Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, on Monday, instructed the district-level authorities to take effective measures to resolve the operation of illegitimate makeshift markets along coastal Nguyen Tat Thanh, especially at its intersections with the streets of Ong Ich Khiem, Ton That Dam, Ly Thai Tong, Nguyen Sinh Sac, and an approach road to the Phu Loc Bridge.

Also following the instructions of Chairman Tho, the municipal Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department is required to conduct surprise inspections of the fire prevention and fire fighting systems at karaoke bars across the city, and then submit the report to the PC before 30 June.

The municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment is asked to present a specific report to the municipal PC no later than 20 June on the handling of the current environmental pollution nearby the Hoa Tho Textiles and Garments Company on Ong Ich Duong Street in Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Dong Ward.

Relevant local agencies must join forces to deal with the operation of dumper trucks carrying soil and stone which might adversely affect the environmental sanitation and cause possible tragic traffic accidents.

Also, more effective solutions should be found to handle unlicensed passenger coaches being illegally parked bumper-to-bumper along a section of Ton Duc Thang, in front of the Lien Chieu District-located Inter-provincial Coach Station, with the intention of picking up as many passengers as possible.

This matter has resulted in traffic congestion facing other road users along this busy street over recent months.

Also on the same day, Chairman Tho directed the Chairman of the downtown Hai Chau District PC to chair a meeting with those who are involved in urban order management as soon as possible in order to ask them make positive changes in their work attitude, ethics and responsibilities.

In a similar vein, intensive training courses on how to detect and deal with urban order violations in a more effective manner should be offered to those involved in this aspect within next month.

These instructions came after the municipal government leader had received a letter from a young citizen complaining about the ill-mannered behaviour of a member from the Hai Chau District order management team.
