Over recent years, Trade Union organisations at grass-roots level in Da Nang have paid special attention to helping their poor members to repair deteriorated houses or build new ones.

The purpose of the meaningful activity is to help Trade Union members facing housing-related problems to stabilise their lives.

Mr Phung Tan Nam from Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, a member of the Trade Union organisation of the District Urban Rule Inspection Team, is a typical example.

Ten years ago, Mr Nam and his wife moved from Quang Nam Province to Da Nang for working. They couldnot afford to buy a house, so they rented a 20m2 room for staying.

After 10 years of hard work, they saved money to buy a land lot in an alley on extended Nam Cao Street.

In 2016, the city’s Trade Union donated Mr Nam’s family 30 million VND to build a new house.

Mr Nam added “The construction of my new house started in September 2016 and completed two months later. With a new house, I and my family members are no longer worried about strong wind and storm every stormy season.”

Mr Le Van Minh from the district’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward received financial assistance from the city’s Trade Union to repair his house.

Being a worker from the Ngu Hanh Son Cement Joint Stock Company, Mr Minh only makes enough money to pay loans, and cover his monthly expenses.

In 2015, he was fortunately given 15 million VND from the city’s Trade Union to repair his downgraded house.

Mr Minh underlined that after his house was repaired, he got married. Two years later, his family welcomed a new member.

“I am very grateful to the city’s Trade Union for their active support for my family, as well as other poor members like me. Without that help, I do not know when I will be able to repair my house”, he added.

The Chairman of Lien Chieu District’s Trade Union organisation, Mr Le Trong Nguyen, said that since the start of this year two families in the locality have received 30 million VND each to build their new ones. The financial aid will help to create extra motivation for poor employees to over their difficulties and have a better life.
