A fire was discovered at the Mui Sung area on Da Nang’s Son Tra Peninsula at around 4.00pm on Monday.

Tourists on the scene reported the fire to the municipal Department of Fire Fighting and Prevention, and 3 fire engines were immediately sent to the scene. The fire department responded promptly, and the fire was extinguished.

The firefighting activities proceeded smoothly because the fire scene was close to an asphalted road leading to the peninsula. Therefore, it took the firefighters only 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Initial investigation showed that the cause of the incident was thought to be that visitors to the peninsula lit cigarettes, and threw their butts into the Mui Sung area.
