Entitled ‘Lighting up Dreams’, the programme was jointly held by the Viet Nam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights, the Da Nang People’s Committee, the Viet Nam Women’s Union, and the Da Nang Association of Charities and Children’s Rights Protection.
In his remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho thanked donors for their meaningful Mid-Autumn gifts to disadvantaged children in Da Nang, and other central regional localities.
The city leader wished all the children a happy and warm Mid-Autumn festival, and asked social organisations to continue their efforts to help the disadvantaged children to overcome their difficulties and continue pursuing their dreams of studying.
Also at the event, the organisers appealed for donations from generous donors to build between 8 and 10 new houses for poor women who take the responsibility of bringing up their school-aged children.
Previously, the organisers of the programme granted 1,000 scholarships and 3,000 gifts to disadvantaged children who present a high risk of dropping out of school due to their very poor situations in Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Binh Phuoc.
