According to the latest statistics released by the Da Nang Traffic Safety Board, between January and September, a total of 62 traffic accidents occurred across the city, claiming 43 lives, and injuring 42. These figures showed a decrease in the number of accidents, deaths, and injuries by 11, 4 and 2 respectively against the previous year.

In addition, there was a significant increase in the number of private vehicles, resulting in a rise in traffic congestion and more traffic accidents at some hot-spots.

In particular, the past 9 months saw many traffic accidents on Ngo Quyen-Ngu Hanh Son route which the increasing volume of container cargo from the Tien Sa Port was transported through.

Moreover, the travelling of dumper trucks carrying soil, stones, sand and other construction materials adversely affected the environmental sanitation, and cause possible tragic traffic accidents.

Furthermore, tourist coaches picked up/dropped off passengers at unpermitted locations, whilst some unlicenced coaches were operating illegally in the city.

In an effort to reduce the number of traffic accidents and ease congestion, greater efforts will be made to widely publicise the ongoing 'The City of 4 Safe Programmes' and 'Traffic Safety for Children' campaigns amongst local residents.

The focus will be on guiding traffic arrangements at the traffic hot-spots during rush hours, and imposing stricter punishments on road, rail and inland waterway traffic violations.
