A total of 189 pupils in 63 robotics teams from primary and junior high schools across Da Nang, on Sunday, competed in this year’s municipal-level Robothon competition.

Co-organised by the municipal Department of Education and Training and the DTT-EDUSPEC Joint-Venture, this event aimed to create a useful playground for school pupils who show a keen interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects, and robothon as a whole.

The municipal-level competition featured 3 categories, namely Robot NXT, Robot EV3, and Robot Vex.

The contest's winners will represent Da Nang to compete at the grand finale of the International Robothon 2018 which is scheduled to take place in China’s Shenzhen City on 25 November.

This year’s international event is themed ‘Next Level’, which is played through VEX IQ and LEGO Mindstorms EV3 hardware platform.

The teams will either work together to compete in an alliance to attempt for the highest score per round or individually attempt the programming skills challenge. The programming skills challenge aims at fully automated robots attempting to complete all the missions on the competition field.
