383 million VND in fines for illegal dumping of used lubricant
The Da Nang authorities recently imposed fines totalling 383 million VND for the illegal dumping of used lubricant in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward.

In detail, the septic pumper truck driver, 22-year-old Quach Van Sang temporarily residing in the ward, was fined 100 million VND for directly dumping a total of 2,730kg of used lubricant into a public drainage system on Tran Duc Street.
Furthermore, the offender must pay nearly 23 million VND to the State Budget in return for no temporary confiscation of the violated septic pumper truck, owned by the Pham Van Manh company headquartered on Tran Duc Street.
The violator was also forced to remedy the negative impacts of this environmental incident of deep concern.
Sang admitted to having illegally discharged such a large amount of used lubricant into the environment which had previously been collected from the Vinh Nghiep company (Yeong Yeh Paper Co Ltd) located in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park.
Meanwhile, 260 million VND in fines was imposed on the Vinh Nghiep company on a count of transferring hazardous waste to unallowed organisations and individuals that have yet to obtain any treatment permits from relevant local agencies.
