36,189 units of blood donated so far this year
So far this year, a total of 36,189 units of blood have been collected from 41,255 people across Da Nang, together accounting for 3.3% of the city’s population, through 137 voluntary blood donation campaigns, exceeding 5% of the year’s target. Over 22,075 of the total donors donated many times.
The blood donations helped to fully meet the demand of the local hospitals to use in emergencies and general treatment.
The city is aiming to ensure that, during the first 2 months of next year, from 15 January to 15 March, a total of 10,000 blood units will be collected from the general public.
The city now has a total of 28 blood donation clubs, teams and family clubs with a total of more than 3,200 members.
Amongst, there are 9 voluntary blood donation teams with a total of 2,697 members, 7 reserve donation teams with a sum of 278 members, 6 other clubs with 90 members in total, a special 65-member group who donate the rare Rh blood type, and 5 family clubs with a total of 70 families which have donated blood many times.
