The incident happened at 2.50pm on Wednesday when they were out fishing off Da Nang coast.

They were at latitude 17°27N and longitude 108°58’E when their engine broke down, and they called the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) for assistance.

The fishermen were unable to make repairs, and their boat was adrift in strong winds, and this tough challenge drove all of them into panic. At the time, all of them were physically exhausted after many hours of battling bad weather conditions at sea.

The Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) immediately asked fishing boats operating nearby to help the boat in distress.

Viet Nam MRCC also urged Da Nang MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 412 to help the boat in distress on Wednesday afternoon.

At 10.50pm on Wednesday, SAR 412 arrived at the scene, and all the crew members were then transferred to the rescue ship for first aid.

After many hours of facing high waves and strong wind, rescue ship SAR 412 from the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) has safely brought back the distressed fishermen, who had been in danger at sea, to the mainland.

Finally, at noon on Thursday, the distressed boat was towed back to the mainland safely.
