City holds tsunami warning drill
A practice for operating a disaster-alert system took place in Da Nang at 3.00pm on Tuesday, and at 9.00am on Wednesday.

The event was jointly organised by the National Steering Committee for Disaster Mitigation and Control along with the municipal Steering Committee for Disaster Mitigation, Search and Rescue.
The practice venues covered coastal areas in the districts of Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe, Hai Chau, Son Tra, and Ngu Hanh Son.
In a hypothetical situation, the city was experiencing an earthquake-triggered tsunami.
Accordingly, the Viet Nam Institute of Geophysics activated disaster-alert system to instantly transmit warnings of tsunami to all observation stations across the city. At that time, these stations would broadcast warning messages sent from the Institute on the system of loudspeakers placed along beaches.
Also, the warning light system would also continuously glow to inform the public of the possible natural disaster in a bid to help them leave their homes quickly to go to safe places.
