One killed in tanker truck crash
One person has died after a tanker truck collision and fire in the southern part of the Hai Van Pass on Thursday afternoon.

The Da Nang Police said 33-year-old Nguyen Khanh of Ha Tinh Province was killed when the tanker truck he was driving collided with another vehicle at around 4.30pm, and then rolled down the valley off the Hai Van Pass, and caught fire.
The tanker driver was pronounced dead at the scene after having gotten stranded inside the truck’s cabin.
Fortunately, his same-aged driving assistant, Dao Trong Minh, escaped to safety from the vehicle.

The tanker was transporting diesel fuel and travelling on a downhill section of the Hai Van Pass en route from Thua Thien-Hue to Da Nang, when it suddenly collided with another truck which was running in the opposite direction.
A total of 20 fire engines along with dozens of firefighters arrived at the scene to respond to the deadly accident.

Finally, the firefighters worked very hard to bring the fire under control by 6.00pm on the same day.
The cause of the fatal accident is still under investigation.
