The family of Mr Nguyen Van Chuong in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Da Nang, has gotten into debt after he suddenly fell ill last month.

Mr Chuong is receiving medical treatment at the Neurology Department of the Da Nang General Hospital.

The 36-year-old man used to work for an electric shop with a monthly salary of nearly 4 million VND. Meanwhile, his wife, Mrs Tran Thi Hang, 33, was a nurse at the Hoan My Da Nang Hospital with a monthly salary of between 5 and 7 million VND.

Four months ago, Mr Chuong’s family welcomed a bundle of joy as his wife was in pregnant with their second baby.

His fond life continues going on until the 27th day of November until Mr Chuong suddenly had a severe tension headache and suffered from sudden high blood pressure. He was immediately rushed to the Da Nang General Hospital in a deep coma with a very critical condition of brain vascular rupture.

Mr Chuong was then diagnosed with cerebral angiodysplasia accompanied with brain hemorrhage. However, he couldnot undergo emergency surgery because the hemorrhage can rapidly cause brain damage and can be life-threatening.

Dr Hoang Ngoc Bao from the hospital's Neurology Department said although Mr Chuong’s health is now stable, he is required to be in rehabilitations to reduce the risk for paralysis.

Since the incident, Mr Chuong has been bed-ridden all the day, placing a heavier burden on the shoulder of his wife of caring for him, along with their young child and an old mother-in-law.

Ms Hang said the incident is driving her family into poverty, little by little, as to date she has owned a total of around 100 million VND to her neighbours and relatives in order to cover her husband’s medical treatment costs over the past month.

She is now on a leave of absence from work without pay to take care of her family although she has morning sickness during the pregnancy.

“I don’t know how to manage to afford the treatment costs for my husband and cover my family’s daily expenses in the coming months when I deliver a baby”, Mrs Hang said in tears.

This distressed family is in very desperate need of financial assistance from benevolent philanthropists from both home and abroad to cover the cost of medical treatment for Mr Chuong.

Donations for the unfortunate man can be sent to Mrs Hang residing in alley No 138 /97 /20 on Hoang Van Thai (Phone: 0905235088); or the DA NANG Newspaper, 6 Tran Phu Street, Da Nang (Phone: 0905832222) or its account No 100214851000415 at the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Import-Export Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank).
