'Quintessence of Da Nang Arts' exhibition until 8 Jan 2019

A fine arts exhibition entitled ‘Quintessence of Da Nang Arts’ is taking place at the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, 78 Le Duan, until 8 January 2019.

The city’s fine arts sector has gradually affirmed its position in the central region and the country as local painters and sculptors have won numerous prestigious prizes at municipal, regional and national exhibitions.

Co-hosted by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the city’s Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the event aims to ring in 2019.

On display at the exhibition are 40 fine arts works made by 29 local painters and sculptors. These works have received notable prizes at municipal, regional and national exhibitions from 2008 to 2018.

In addition to such senior painters and sculptors as Vu Duong, Le Huy Hanh, Duy Ninh, Tuong Vinh, Dinh Gia Thang and Vo Van Thanh Tinh, the exhibition features fine arts works created by young artists namely Nguyen Thi Du Du, Than Trong Dung, Nguyen Quang, Ho Dinh Nam Kha, Phan Thanh Hai, Truong Nguyen Nguyen Kha, Huynh Thi Thang, Nguyen Van Yen and Phan Tuy An. Most of them have had award-winning works over the past decade.

According to painter Ho Dinh Nam Kha, Chairman of the municipal Fine Arts Association, over the last 10 years, many of fine arts works made by local painters have been highly appreciated by experts in this aspect. During that period, the city’s fine arts sector has gradually affirmed its position in the central region, and in the country as a whole, as local painters and sculptors have won numerous prestigious prizes at municipal, regional and national exhibitions.

In particular, the ‘Monument of Vietnamese Heroic Mother’ work by Dinh Gia Thang took a gold at the national fine arts exhibition in 2015.

The ‘Ancient Hoi An’ wood carving painting by Nguyen Tuong Vinh claimed 3rd prize at an exhibition in 2016, whilst the ‘Games’ painting by Truong Nguyen Nguyen Kha won the C prize at a central regional and highland exhibition organised by the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association in 2018.

In addition, local sculptor Pham Hong was awarded the State Prize in 2012.
