An intense cold front combined cooling effect of eastern wind is likely to bring moderate and heavy downpours to Da Nang and elsewhere in the mid-central region over the coming days, the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has warned.

Friday into Sunday, total rainfall in Quang Binh Province is expected to be widely 30 to 60mm per day, and even over 80mm in some parts of these localities. For Quang Tri, rainfall accumulation is expected to be over 100mm, up to 150mm in Thua Thien Hue, up to 120mm in Da Nang, up to 200mm in Quang Nam, and up to over 200mm in Quang Ngai.

Over the coming days, Da Nang is forecast to see showers, and thunderstorms, with the temperatures hovering at only between 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, whilst the average humidity is reported as around 90%.

Currently, in an attempt to deal with aftermaths of recent widespread flooding caused by prolonged torrential rains over the past days, recovery work is still underway to overcome the flooding-caused damage to agricultural production activities, and ensure clean water supplies to families residing in the mountainous communes of Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu in the suburban district of Hoa Vang.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Urban Environment Company, on Thursday, a total of more than 3 tonnes of trash were romoved by the company’s workers from sections of the coastal Nguyen Tat Thanh Streets stretching from Phu Loc Bridge to Xuan Thieu Beach.

It was reported that at least 8 people have died and 2 others are missing as recent heavy downpours flood thousands of houses in Central Viet Nam.

Between January and October this year, natural disasters have left 185 people dead or missing and injured 134 others, costing the country more than 8.8 trillionVND ($381 million), according to the General Statistics Office.
