Work starts on 500Kv high voltage transmission lines in central region
On Tuesday morning, work started on 3 projects to create a network of 500kV high voltage transmission lines in some parts of Central Viet Nam from Ha Tinh Province’s Vung Ang Economic Zone to Gia Lai Province’s Pleiku City.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the projects |
These projects are 500kV high voltage thermal power transmission lines between Quang Binh Province’s Quang Trach Town and Vung Ang and a switchgear at the Vung Ang Power Centre; 500kV high voltage transmission lines between Quang Trach and Quang Ngai Province’s Doc Soi; and 500kV high voltage power lines between Doc Soi and Pleiku 2.
The over 740 km-long network will run through Da Nang and the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum, and Gia Lai.
Developed by the National Power Transmission Corporation under the Electricity of Viet Nam (EVNNPT), the power network will cost nearly 12 trillion (equivalent to 516 million USD).
The high voltage power network construction is expected to be completed within 20 months counting from the commencement date, and it is scheduled to be put into operation by mid-2020.
Deputy PM Dung addressing the event |
In his remarks at the ground-breaking ceremony of the high voltage power network construction, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung highly praised the Ministry of Industry and Trade, relevant agencies, and the authorities and people of the 9 provinces and cities where the high voltage transmission lines are going to pass through, for their great efforts in ensuring on-schedule preparatory work.
Mr Dung highlighted the urgent need to create the high voltage power network in these central localities due to growing demand for power. In addition, the existing lines to transmit power from the north and central regions are fully loaded and even already overloaded.
He, therefore, underlined the importance of the creation of the 500kV power transmission lines from Vung Ang to Pleiku in enhancing the national power transmission infrastructure and ensuring the sufficient supply of power for the southern region.
Deputy PM Dung also urged relevant agencies to make even greater efforts to promptly deal with difficulties to ensure the on-schedule implementation of these projects.
