Bringing warm Tet to Co Tu ethnic minority people

Many people and organisations across Da Nang have visited and presented Tet gifts to Co Tu ethnic minority people in Hoa Vang District to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.

On 12 January, Deputy Minister for Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, along with representatives from the municipal Police Department, the Cong An Nhan Dan (People’s Police) Newspaper and the DTH Viet Nam Services and Trading Investment Co Ltd donated 250 Tet gifts to ethnic minority people and poor families in the villages of Ta Lang and Gian Bi in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac Commune. Each of Tet gifts concluded rice, necessities and 700,000 VND in cash.

On the same day, the delegation presented 150 other gifts, valued at 1 million VND each, to people in Phu Tuc Village in the district’s Hoa Phu Commune.

Two days later, the Community Charity Association in South Korea visited and gave 10 televisions and wall fans to the Hoa Bac Primary School in namesake commune in Hoa Vang District.

On 19 January, students from the English and French Language faculties at the Da Nang University of Foreign Language Studies jointly organised a charity musical event. All money collected from ticket sales went to help poor families in Hoa Bac Commune.

Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu mountainous communes in Hoa Vang District are now home to many Co Tu ethnic minority people.

Most of local residents rely on forests to earn their living, whilst some young people work at industrial parks and some tourism areas in neighbouring localities. Therefore, their lives still face many difficulties.
