Top priority will be given to raising public awareness of traffic safety, and increasing patrols and checks on streets across the city.
Strict penalties will be imposed on drink-drivers, and those who run through red lights, weave between moving vehicles or zigzag through traffic, exceed the speed limit, or violate the regulations on parking or picking up and dropping off passengers during peak days.
More effective measures will be taken to increase checks over transportation activities of road transport service providers, and deal with overloaded vehicles.
The municipal Department of Police will take the initiative to adjust traffic arrangement and arrange forces to instruct and remind road users about the city's traffic laws at traffic hot-spots during rush hours or busy areas where big festivals will be held.
In an effort to prevent possible bad traffic situations on the Hai Van Pass and in the Hai Van Tunnel, rumble strips will be used to help alert drivers of upcoming intersections and to keep their speeds low.
The Department of Construction is taking responsibility for replacing damaged street lights and traffic signs in order to ensure optimum visibility for road-users.
