A pair of coconuts is engraved with words “An Khang Thinh Vuong” (good health, and prosperity) |
These special fruits are engraved with such wishing words as “Phuoc – Loc – Tho” (fortune – prosperity – longevity), “Xuan Moi Phat Tai” (a prosperous new year), and “Van Su Nhu Y” (may myriad things go according to your will), hereby turning them into decorative items for Tet.
Notable amongst these eye-catching fruits are coconuts featuring highly impressive calligraphic words which are now sold at between 180,000 VND - 300,000 VND/pair.
Apart from coconuts, a pair of watermelons, engraved with Tet wishes, is on sale at between 600,000 VND and 800,000 VND/pair.
Likewise, the price of a pair of green skin pomelos bearing such lucky words hovers from 1 million VND to 1.5 million VND/pair.
In particular, such pomelos grow in moulds that result in the shape of golden ingots and wine gourds. Accordingly, the healthiest and most beautiful pomelos will be put into moulds when they are as small as oranges, then they will have their tops wrapped in the black plastic bags in order to avoid sunburn.
Ms Tran Bich Lien, a resident living on Le Loi Street said that she had just bought a pair of coconuts bearing wishing words charged at 200,000 VND. “I bought the coconuts for offerings to ancestors during the Tet festival with the hope of the new year full of good lucks”, said Lien.
