With around 3 weeks to go to the Tet Festival, the market for Tet gift baskets in Da Nang is heating up as supermarkets, markets and retailers are offering a wide range of eye-catching products at reasonable prices. These items are traditionally bought to gift partners, customers, relatives, and friends.

Tet gift baskets in the BigC Mall

Since late December 2018, the BigC Mall has launched the ‘Baskets for Tet 2019’ programme with over 30 different kinds of baskets for its shoppers. These baskets include confectionery, processed food, tea packages, and wine bottles.

The price of each basket depends on the quantity and quality of the items they contain, and they range in price from 78,000 VND to over 2 million VND each.

Notably, this large supermarket is offering a unique Tet basket with specialties of Viet Nam's northern, central and southern regions, and the other with organic items, for the first time.

In a similar vein, on sale at the city’s Co.op Mart are 9 gift baskets for workers at prices ranging from 200,000 VND to one million VND each, 9 others from 199,000 VND to 5 million VND each, and 12 others from 900,000 VND to 1.2 million VND each.

Many shops at traditional markets and main streets are also displaying various kinds of Tet gifts.

Ms Nguyen Thi Thu Tra, an owner of a shop on Trung Nu Vuong Street, said 5 different kinds of such baskets are now available at her shop at the prices of between 150,000 VND and 1.2 million VND each. Additionally, she is providing free present wrapping for her customers.

In addition to Tet baskets of canned items, the fruit baskets are preferred by customers. These baskets include imported products such as kiwi, blue dragon, mandarin, US apples, US blue and black grapes, grapefruit, custard apple, and mangoes. They are priced at between 200,000 VND and 1 million VND each or even more.
