Most notably, preferential policies are being given to migrant workers and those with very difficult circumstances to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.

The Deputy General Director of the city’s Hoa Tho Textiles and Garments Company, Ms Tran Tuong Anh, said that his company has a total of over 6,000 workers, and each of them received a Tet gift of cooking oil, and packets of monosodium glutamate, and a two-month salary bonus for Tet.

She also revealed that her company gave free bus fares to migrant workers in order to help them return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.

31-year-old Tran Thu Hoai from Quang Nam Province who is working at the city-based Foster Electric Company said she received a total of 10 million VND in salary and Tet bonus. She said happily that she can enjoy a warm and happy Tet with her family thanks to her money.

Notably, numerous meaningful programmes, including ‘Tet Sum Vay’ (Lunar New Year Reunion) and ‘Fair for Workers’, have been organised in the city.

At the ‘Tet Sum Vay’ (Lunar New Year Reunion) for workers on 16 January, the municipal Labour Confederation donated gift packages, with each consisting of Tet necessary items, 500,000 VND in cash and 200,000 VND worth of vouchers, to 200 poor workers.

Besides, free coaches are scheduled to bring a total of 2,000 migrant poor workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.

During the recent ‘Fair for Workers’, trade union organisations have joined force with businesses to offer goods and services which were much cheaper than those sold in the market for blue-collar workers.
