On Thursday, Mr Nguyen Vu Quy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board, paid an inspection visit to the construction site of the La Son-Tuy Loan Route.

He asked the project’s Management Department to cooperate well with local authorities to speed up the progress of site clearance. He urged contractors to make every effort to ensure that the route will be open on a trial by the end of the 1st quarter of this year.

The 4-lane route is part of the 3,183 km-long Ho Chi Minh Highway which runs through a total of 28 Vietnamese localities.  The national highway starts in northern Cao Bang Province and ends in the southernmost Ca Mau Province.

Work started on the about 11.5 trillion VND (515.66 million USD) La Son-Tuy Loan project on 22 December 2013.  The project costs are financed by loans from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) which is Japan’s largest bank.

Stretching a total of 78 km, the route begins in La Son Town, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien-Hue Province, and ends at the intersection with the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway in Da Nang’s Tuy Loan Village.

The La Son-Tuy Loan project, which is developed on the build-transfer (BT) basis, is expected to be completed by late 2018. However, so far this year, the project has yet to be completed as planned.
