Local medical workers praised for treating injured bus crash victims

During his recent visit to the Da Nang General Hospital, Deputy Minister for Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son highly praised its medical workers for their great efforts in treating victims in the 8 January serious accident.

The field trip bus, carrying 23 people in total onboard, fell into the abyss while travelling on the mountain pass connecting Da Nang and the neighbouring province of Thua Thien – Hue, leaving one dead and 21 injured.

In particular, one of the injured victims, 21-year-old Ngo Thi Su Sal, who chopped off her arm during the terrible crash has had it sewn back on thanks to successful emergency surgery at the hospital.

The female student is still receiving intensive care at the hospital after a 5-hour-long operation, and her hand is expected to be back in almost perfect working condition.

Previously, rescuers had hunt through the abyss to find the arm and then put it inside a Styrofoam box, and tried to stop blood gushing from the stump.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son remarked that the medical workers’ wholehearted engagement in the treatment clearly demonstrates their high sense of responsibility, great devotion and dedication to the patients.

Deputy Minister Son also presented 1 million VND from the budget of the Ministry of Public Security to each of the injured, and gave gifts to the medical workers involved in the treatment.

In a similar vein, the Political Affairs Office and the Women’s Association, both at the municipal Police Department, jointly donated 5 million VND to the medical workers, and the same amount to the accident victims.
