Warning over bogus callers posing as fire police officers
The Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Division under the Da Nang Department of Police is urging people to be on their guard after fraudsters claiming to be fire police officers over the phone have tried to sell guidance books, legal documents, and equipment on fire fighting and prevention to some organisations and businesses operating in the city.
The Da Nang police have issued the warning after they received complaints from some agencies in the districts of Son Tra, Hai Chau, and Ngu Hanh Son, and companies operating in Hoa Khanh and Hoa Cam industrial parks about fraudulent phone calls and texts.
The offenders asked the victims to buy fire fighting and prevention items and threatened that they would be heavily fined if the victims did not accept their offer.
The fake police then asked for the victims to transfer their money for their purchases into the local police bank accounts, whilst the ordered items will be sent to recipients by post.
The fraudulent act which aimed at reaping personal profits also blighted the prestige of the fire and rescue police force.
To avoid being swindled, the public should be alert to the impersonators, and report any fraudulent cases to the local police.
In addition, organisations and individuals in need of information or guidance on fire fighting and prevention should come to the headquarters of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Division at 183 Phan Dang Luu.
