12 out of 15 injured South Korean crash victims discharged from hospital

The Da Nang General Hospital says 12 out of the 15 injured victims of a recent coach-truck collision near the Hai Van Tunnel have been already discharged. The crash took place on Monday, and the majority of the injured passengers were South Korean nationals.

The 3 remaining passengers are still receiving treatment at the hospital, and they are expected to be discharged over the next few days.

They are the 50-year-old with multiple injuries, the 37-year-old with facial jaw and left shoulder injuries, and the 52-year-old suffering cervical spine trauma and a facial jaw injury.
Since Monday afternoon, the city leaders and representatives of functional bodies visited the collision victims receiving treatment at the hospital.

In particular, representatives from the South Korean Embassy paid visits to the crash victims. In a similar vein, the South Korean People’s Association in Da Nang informed the injured passengers’ family members of the incident, expressing thanks to the city’s authorities for their timely support to the South Korean victims.

According to the Da Nang Traffic Safety Committee, both the drivers of the coach and the container truck were tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

The initial scene examinations showed that the passenger bus driver steered his vehicle encroaching on the opposite lane and hitting the container truck.

Meanwhile, according to Directorate for Roads of Viet Nam, around the time of the accident, the speed of the container truck was last recorded at 12.05pm at 27kph, while that of the passenger bus was 26kph at 11.53am.

Further investigation into the accident is still underway, and the exact cause of the collision will be publicly announced soon.
