The results of the recently-conducted tests showed that sea water quality parameters along the coastal Nguyen Tat Thanh Street are within allowable limits, and they entirely meet the national standards issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment for swimming and water sports activities.

Particularly, the results of the analysis of wastewater quality collected at Le Do outlet indicated that such parameters as NH4-N and S2- exceeds the permitted limits.

The reason for this issue is that, at the time of monitoring, there was a volume of effluent from a wastewater collection system on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street overflowing into the Le Do drain outlet which collects waste water for treatment at the Phu Loc wastewater treatment station.

The wastewater overload and the poor operation of some downgraded sections of drainage system have been blamed for the flowing of wastewater into the sea.

According to the city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the municipal People's Committee has already given the go-ahead for the upgrade of the existing wastewater collection systems in the basin of the Phu Loc River and along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in a bid to prevent wastewater flowing into the drain outlet, hereby resolving the environmental pollution and creating a healthy environment for residents nearby.
