More effective measures taken to prevent wastewater from pouring out to sea
On Monday, workers from the Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company carried out the filling of the hollow traces left by the waste stream with sand along beaches’ affected portions.
Also, a number of sandbags were placed at the sluicing gates of the coastal drainage systems in order to completely prevent rainwater and wastewater left there from spilling into the sea.
The rainwater and wastewater left inside the coastal drainage systems were brought into the specialised treatment stations.
On the same day, sanitation workers from the city’s Urban Environment JSC and the Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company jointly conduct cleanup along beaches’ affected portions.
A total of 11 tonnes of garbage, including waste, grease and decomposed food were collected on beaches, 4 tonnes higher than normal days.
Previously, wastewater came from the coastal drainage systems pouring out to sea after heavy downpour last Sunday. The city’s coastal drainage systems now collect both rainwater and wastewater, and when the system is flushed out by rainwater following a downpour, untreated wastewater gets mixed.
Following the city leader-issued approvals, 2,450 billion VND from the city budget will be spent on upgrading the existing water treatment works along the eastern coastline of the Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts.
