According to the Da Nang Traffic Safety Committee, a total of 19 road traffic accidents were recorded across the city between January and March.

These resulted in 17 deaths and 6 serious injuries, and caused property damage of around 56.5 million VND. Compared to the same period last year, the figures showed an increase by 1 and 3 in the number of accidents and deaths, and a decrease by 12 in the number of injuries.

Notably, the traffic situation in the city has been very complicated, especially before, during, and after the Tet Festival.

The traffic violations have included riding motorcycles without wearing helmets, carrying more than the allowed number of passengers, exceeding the speed limit, running through the red light, travelling in the wrong lanes and directions, and the matter of drink-driving.

In addition, the travelling of dump trucks on the Hai Van - Tuy Loan bypass has been very complicated, whilst residents’ awareness about traffic safety has still limited.

Through surveillance camera systems across the city, functional bodies have imposed administrative fine on a total of 2,959 traffic violation cases.

Besides, 90 alcohol-related violations by road users, 3,958 cases travelling in the wrong lanes and directions, 2,872 cases exceeding the speed limit, 2,131 cases riding motorcycles without wearing helmets, and 2,009 cases running through the red light have been handled.
