Da Nang signs organic agricultural product purchasing agreement with Dak Lak

On Wednesday morning, the Da Nang Food Safety Management Board signed an agreement with Dak Lak Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to purchase organic agricultural products for the city.

Also present at the event were representatives from 11 organic agricultural product suppliers in Dak Lak Province, plus those from supermarkets and other agricultural product distributors in Da Nang.

According to a spokesperson for the Department, Dak Lak is now home to nearly 70 cooperatives, 247 pig and 95 chicken farms, and 400 establishments processing coffee, cashew nuts, cocoa, and sugar.

In addition, 14,000 ha of land in the province have been earmarked for growing fruit trees with the focus on durians and avocadoes, and vegetables.

Besides, there are over 30 farms and growing areas meeting the Viet Nam Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) standards across the province.

A representative from Dak Lak Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development remarked Da Nang was considered as one of the province’s potential markets for their organic agricultural products, helping their local suppliers to expand their consumption markets.

He highlighted the significance of the signing of the agreement in creating closer links between organic agricultural product suppliers and distributors in the two localities to help to ensure sustainable and safe organic agricultural product supplies in the city .

Also, the bilateral cooperation in food safety management between the two localities will be enhanced.
