From 17-19 May, a delegation of visitors from Japan’s Yokohama City authorities, the Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA), and the US Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) is conducting surveys in Hai Chau and Thanh Khe districts, and the Khanh Son Landfill in Lien Chieu District.

The intention is to assess the implementation of the solid waste management project in the city over the past 2 years, as well as to propose some support activities for the city after the above project will end by the end of this year.

The Japanese visitors highly appreciated the remarkable results the city has achieved after only 2 years of implementing the project in Thach Thang and Thuan Phuoc wards in Hai Chau District, and Thanh Khe Tay and Hoa Khe wards in Thanh Khe District.

They also spoke highly of the municipal authorities for their great efforts in issuing a plan to classify trash right at families into 3 types - organic, inorganic, and recycled by 2025.

During his meeting with the guests, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment Dinh Quang Cuong asked the Japanese partners to help his city promote the classification of garbage at the source effectively.

In reply, the Japanese visitors pledged to assist the city to effectively implement the 3-R (reduce, reuse and recycle) programmes in the coming time.
