Jointly organised by the Department of Transport and the Union of Science and Technology Associations in Da Nang, the event aimed to collect opinions from transport experts, thereby making suitable adjustments to traffic arrangements in the city in the coming time.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Department of Transport, traffic congestion mainly occurs during rush hours from 6.45am - 7.45am, and from 4.45pm - 6.00pm daily, at some downtown intersections. Therefore, resolving this issue of deep concern is one of the city’s most important tasks by 2025.

The Department suggested that the city should conduct traffic arrangements on the Nguyen Tat Thanh - Ly Thai Tong - Hoang Thi Loan - Dien Bien Phu - Nguyen Tri Phuong - Nguyen Huu Tho - Xo Viet Nghe Tinh - 2 September - Bach Dang - 3 February - Nguyen Tat Thanh route.

Also at the seminar, the Department presented some plans for traffic arrangements across the city for this year and the years ahead.

By 2020, the following sections of some streets will be switched to one-way traffic: a section of the Ly Thai To-Hung Vuong route between its intersection of Phan Thanh and Nguyen Chi Thanh streets, and on the Hai Phong section allowing vehicles to run from Nguyen Chi Thanh Street towards Dien Bien Phu Street.

Besides, a section of Ong Ich Khiem between its intersection of Hung Vuong and Hai Phong streets, a section of Hoang Hoa Tham between its intersection of Hai Phong and Ly Thai To streets, a section of Le Do between its intersection of Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets, and a section of Ha Huy Tap between its intersection of Nguyen Tat Thanh and Dien Bien Phu streets, will be made one-way.

Notably, the focus will be on building an overpass at western end of Tran Thi Ly Bridge, and another one at the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, and a tunnel at the Da Nang International Airport.

Most of participants at the seminar praised the Department for its great efforts in developing its plans in erasing the existing traffic congestion hot-spots, and meeting the city’s demand for traffic arrangements in the future.
