They are Mr Thai Van Chau, Secretary of the ward’s Nai Hung 1A Party Cell, Mrs To Thi Thu Thuy, Head of the ward’s residential group No 35, and Mrs Vo Thi Hoai Tam, Chairwoman of the Nai Hung 1A chapter of the municipal Women’s Union.
This good idea was initiated by Mr Chau, he came up with the idea after seeing many poor workers and pupils across Nai Hien Dong Ward skip their breakfast just to save money.
For that reason, Mr Chau gave the poor a hand with offering them free loaves of sweet bread. He added this meaningful activity has been previously seen in other Vietnamese cities such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue.
Accordingly, the charity bread box is placed on the sidewalk at the intersection of Duong Van Nga and Pham Huy Thong streets where a large number of poor workers and pupils gather regularly on the 1st and 15th days of every lunar month.
“We have signed a trade agreement with a local bakery to buy its bread and then we give it for free to the needy. Every day, the box provides 200 loaves for those in needed between 6.30am and 9.00am daily”, Mr Chau said.
He added the bread box has drawn much attention from both local residents and social media users. Therefore, he used his own money and asked for help from his friends and relatives to keep the meaningful activity running.
Mrs Le Thi Xuan Tuyet, Chairwoman of the Nai Hien Dong Ward Women’s Union, highly appreciated the charitable activity which shows the spirit of solidarity. She hoped the model would be expanded into other areas across the city in the coming time, thereby helping even more people in difficult circumstances.
