Hai Van Water Supply Plant stops operating as Luong Stream dries up

Mr Ho Huong, General Director of the Da Nang Water Supply Company (DAWACO) said on Wednesday morning that the Hai Van Water Supply Plant has stopped operating as no water source came from the Luong Stream which has dried up. This has resulted in insufficient water supply in the city during the hot days.

The Hai Van Water Supply Plant has had a daily capacity of 4,000m3 of water, but it now has a daily capacity of only 1,500m3 of water because the Luong Stream often dries up in the dry season. This has caused the water scarcity in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward in particular, and Lien Chieu District in general, along with some areas in Hoa Vang District.

Mr Tran Huu Duc, Director of the Lien Chieu Water Supply Plant, said since mid-2013, DAWACO has installed water supply pipelines through the Nam O Bridge with a maximum supply capacity of 1,500m3 of water per day in a bid to ensure sufficient water supplies to residents living in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, as well as to all businesses operating at the Lien Chieu Industrial Park.

He, therefore, noted the water supply capacity of the Hai Van Water Supply Plant has weaken than normal days in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, and Lien Chieu District as a whole. However, businesses and residents living in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward have been supplied enough water for their production activities and daily lives.
