The handling of traffic violations caught on surveillance cameras installed along Ngo Quyen, Ngu Hanh Son, a road leading to the Hoa Nhon Quarry, and at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang, Yen The, and Bac Son streets in Da Nang will begin on 15 May.

Currently, relevant local agencies are publicising the new regulation amongst the general public through the mass media, and visual advertising.

To date, a total of 143 surveillance cameras have already been installed at 45 traffic hotspot across the city.

Since the start of this year, functional bodies have detected, and imposed a total of more than 7 billion VND in administrative fines on over 5,000 traffic violation cases caught on camera systems across the city.

Some violations have been directly handled by traffic police who were on duty at or near the intersections thanks to images of these offences electronically sent from technical officers at the municipal Police Department’s Information Centre. As for others, penalty tickets enclosed with hard copies of images of the violations have been also sent to violators at home, requiring them to pay fines.

The ongoing expansion of the city’s surveillance camera network aims to reduce traffic violations at traffic hotspots, hereby helping to ensure the traffic safety.
