The club is a wonderful place for young people to share their strong passion for drawing, and save their memories about the city through their paintings.

Most recently, the club has opened an exhibition entitled ‘Looking back to Da Nang’ at the International Exhibition Fair Centre, 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam.

On display at the event have been 100 drawings by young painters from the University who are members of the Sketchers DAU Club.

By pencils, rotring pencils or water colours, the images of the Con and Han markets, the Tho Quang fishing wharf, the Hai Van Gate, bridges spanning across the Han River, and major streets have been reappeared lively and attractively.

Nguyen Duc Cuong, a member of the Sketchers DAU Club, remarked he really like streets in the city, which inspired him to draw paintings about the city’s streets such as Bach Dang, Hai Phong, Nguyen Van Linh, Phan Dang Luu or small alleys in the city centre. Through his drawing lines, normal roads become very strange and attractive.

Like Cuong, another the club member Bui Trung Phuoc said “For me, drawing is the best way to follow my passion, relax after hours of hard studying, and save the cultural values about Da Nang where I live and study ”.

Nguyen Dinh Viet, Head of the club, said he want to introduce locals and visitors to the breathtaking beauty of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, through their drawings.

He noted also through the paintings, they also encourage the community to join forces with the municipal authorities to preserve the heritage values of the city.

Mr Viet emphasised the club’s members have been recently actively involved in drawing fundraiser for volunteer programmes.

“Recently, the members have raised a total of over 7 million VND from selling their drawings. In addition, they have appealed for donations from generous donors to present gifts to poor children in Tay Giang mountainous district in Quang Nam Province”, he added.
