Rescue underway to save fishing boat with 52 crew members in distress
On Wednesday afternoon, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station received a SOS message from the distressed QNa 90129 TS, with a crew of 52 onboard, from Tam Giang Commune, Nui Thanh District, Quang Nam Province.
It was reported that the boat suffered engine failure whilst fishing in Viet Nam’s waters, about 226 nautical miles northeast off the Da Nang coast. The ship began drifting at a speed of 2 nautical mile per hour and it faced strong winds of levels 4-5, and rough seas at that time.
The city’s Station has reported the incident to search and rescue agencies for timely support.
The Viet Nam Coastal Information Station has asked fishing vessels operating in the vicinity to enhance their observation and give timely assistance to QNa 90129 TS. Fortunately, having received the call for help, another boat from the same the province operating nearby has already reached the distressed vessel pending the arrival of rescue units.
