Forest fire risk in the city as temperatures may soar over 40 degree Celsius
Between 25 and 30 June, Da Nang is braced for an extreme heatwave with temperatures forecast to exceed 40 degree Celsius this week. Therefore, the risk of forest fires in the city has reached the fourth level.
According to a spokesperson for the municipal Forest Protection Department, forests in the city are facing high risks of fire due to visitors’ irresponsible behavior in burning incense and votive papers, and throwing cigarettes. In addition, visitors cook dishes and use fire during their overnight camping trips in the forests.
Therefore, the Department has asked local relevant agencies to increase their checks and tighten their monitoring of production and business activities in forests, and picnic activities in a bid to prevent fires.
In addition, functional bodies have issued a ban on burning fires in ecotourism areas during the current dry season. Moreover, forest rangers have been required to strictly comply with the municipal regulations about forest fire prevention and firefighting.
