Quang Ngai fisherman rescued after suspected stroke
In the early morning of 17 June, rescue ship SAR 412 from the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre No 2 rescued a fisherman believed to have had a stroke after receiving a request for medical assistance from a fishing boat operating in the Hoang Sa waters.

At around 4.00pm on Saturday, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) received an SOS message from crew members onboard fishing boat QNg 95618 TS. The boat was owned by 51-year-old Bui Van Nghia from Quang Ngai Province.
Accordingly, 56-year-old Le Th. was reported that he had suffered from a stroke with severe headache and vomiting symptoms, and his whole body had been immovable.
At that time the vessel was fishing in the Hoang Sa waters at latitude 14°30’N and longitude 112°6’E.

After receiving the SOS message, the Viet Nam MRCC asked the boat travel on the shortest sea route to the mainland, and urged search and rescue coordination centre nearby to help the boat in distress.
In addition, the Viet Nam MRCC immediately helped the boat’s crew members contact doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115 to ask for first aid instructions.
On Sunday morning, the Viet Nam MRCC asked the Da Nang MRCC to send out its rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the city’s 199 Hospital, to help the sick fisherman.
In the afternoon of the same day, SAR 412 reached the fishing boat and the sick fisherman was, then, transferred to the rescue ship for initial first aid, and then he was safely brought back to the mainland for further care.
