City continues experiencing water scarcity
In the evening of 2 July and the early morning of 3 July, taking advantage of low tides and a large amount of water discharged from the hydroelectric reservoirs, the Da Nang Water Supply Company (DAWACO) has increased water supplies to Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts in a bid to raise water pressure in pipelines.
Some hotels in Son Tra District have to buy water from DAWACO to meet the demand for water of their guests. |
As a result, water pressure in some areas in the downstream area of the Cau Do (Red Bridge) River has been significantly increased. In particular, water pressure at the intersection of Nguyen Phan Vinh and Le Tan Trung has been 3m, the intersection of Nguyen Luong Bang and Xuan Thieu 8.5m, Nguyen Ba Phat Street 9.5m, and DT.602 Street 5m.
However, some residential areas in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts have continued experiencing low water pressure. Specifically, water pressure at the intersection of Khuc Hao and Ho Sy Tan has been 0.5m, and Truong Sa Street 1m.

Meanwhile, some hotels and luxury apartments in Ngu Hanh Son District’s My An Ward had to buy water because they had no water.
Mr Truong Quoc Phat, who is living at the Muong Thanh Hotel and Son Tra High-Class Apartment Complex project on Le Quang Dao, said he and other people had no water on 2 July. Therefore, the Management Board of the complex bought tap water from DAWACO. At noon on 3 July, 2 water supply tankers were sent to the complex but the water was not enough for 1,000 households living there.

In recent days, the salinity levels of the Cau Do (Red Bridge) River have increased significantly. At 9.30am on Wednesday, the salinity level of the river reached 3,503mg/l, 14 times higher than the allowed limits. Therefore, the salinity intrusion and water scarcity are going to continue in the next few days.
