Nearly 30 billion VND raised for charity programmes
Over the first half of the 2016 – 2021 period, the Da Nang Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children raised a total of nearly 30 billion VND from generous donors to implement charity programmes, fulfilling 76% of the target for the whole period.
In detail, the Association joined forces with relevant local agencies to give free screening tests for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer to 8,672 women, health examinations for 276 poor women and children, gifts and financial aids for 21,956 poor women and children in Hoa Vang District, free portions of rice soup (chao) for more than 1.3 million cancer patients.
With regard to tasks for the rest of the period, the Association aims to mobilise 20 billion VND and promote the implemetation of charity activities.
In a similar vein, free screening tests for the early detection of congenital heart complaints will be offered to 120,000 people aged between 1 and 20.
Also, 2 billion VND in aid will be spent on providing rice soup to patients receiving treatment at the city based Cancer Hospital, whilst more active support will be given to the needy, especially poor women, to help them access the exemption and reduction of hospital fees.
