Sweaty weather continues in the city into Thursday, high UV level warned
High temperatures are expected to continue to scorch the mid-central region in the upcoming days, according to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The current unpleasant weather pattern is directly caused by the influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region.
Today, average highs range between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius in the regional localities, even 38 degree Celsius in some of their parts.
In particular, soaring heatwave conditions are likely to continue to prevail Da Nang into Thursday as maximum temperatures are predicted to rise up to 38 degree Celsius.
Mercury can remain above 35 degree Celsius in some parts of the city, especially from 10.300am until 4.00pm.
The lowest humidity is reported to hover at between 40 and 60%.
It is worth noting that, today, the ultraviolet (UV) radiation index in the city is recorded at a harmful level as residents are advised to wear protective clothing and sunscreen when outside.
Forecasters say temperatures are set to cool down in the city, starting from Friday as mercury is forecasted to reach as high as only 34 degree Celsius until subsequent days.
Aside from the heat wave, mid-central regional localities are likely to brace for thunderstorms, lighting and strong winds in their mountainous areas in the nighttime.
Still worse, central regional localities are also facing the high risk of forest fires sparked by the prolonged extreme heatwave.
