Wet weather possible for the city from Tuesday into Wednesday
Wet weather, along with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds, is lashing some central regional localities, including Da Nang, on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
In details, central regional localities from Da Nang to Quang Ngai are now bracing for scattered showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rain engulfing mountainous areas in the nighttime.
In particular, heavy rain-triggered flash floods and landslides are predicted to tear through some mountainous areas in the central province of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue.
In Da Nang, from 2 to 4 July, the city is predicted to see cloudy weather in the daytime, and it will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, in the nighttime. The temperatures are expected to hover at between 27 to 34 degrees Celsius, and the humidity of 63%.
A newly-established tropical depression is likely to gather enough strength to become a typhoon tonight, the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Centre (NCHMF) has reported.
At 1.00am on Wednesday, the typhoon is predicted to be located at latitude 19°5’N and longitude 110°8’E, off the east coast of the Hainan Island in China, with maximum wind speeds near its center reaching 60- 75 kph (level 8), gusting at level 11.
Between 1.00am on Wednesday and 1.00am on Thursday, the storm is predicted to move west-northwest at a velocity of about 15km per hour, and it is forecast to continue to amass strength.
At 1.00am on Thursday, its centre is expected to be positioned at latitude 20°9’N and longitude 107°8’E, right on the coast of the northern localities from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh with the disaster risk level 3.
Under the effect of the typhoon, torrential rain, flash floods and landslides will probably strike the north and north-central regions on Wednesday ad Thursday, NCHMF has warned.
