Tourists in distress rescued on Son Tra Peninsula
Three men and two women have been rescued by local functional bodies after getting lost in the jungle of Da Nang’s Son Tra Nature Reserve on Wednesday morning. However, one rescuer died after falling down a rock during the search.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, 4 unidentified visitors (2 men and 2 women) were lost when they were on a motorbike trip to the Son Tra Nature Reserve.
They then parked their motorbikes near the banyan tree area for trekking downhill to the sea. However, the four lost their ways and shouted for help when it rained hard and became dark.
At that time, two local fishermen who were fishing nearby the area, came to help after hearing scream and shout.
Unfortunately, one of the fishermen, 30, from Hue City suddenly slipped and fell down from a high cliff and he was killed later.
The other climbed the cliff and contacted with relevant local agencies for help by mobile phone.
After receiving the SOS message, local policemen, firefighters, and other functional bodies to conduct their search and rescue activities.
Thanks to their great efforts, the group of visitors and the fishermen were taken to the city centre at around 4am on Wednesday. Amongst the tourists, one man was slightly wound. Meanwhile, the body of the dead fisherman was handed over to his family.
The identities of the tourists are being identified.
