Environmental pollution hotspots to be resolved

Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung has approved the plans to enhance the handling of environmental pollution hotspots in the city by late this year.

The plans aims to resolve environmental pollution sites across the city, and gradually control the quality of treated wastewater at treatment plants located in industrial parks and the quality of marine environment and surface water as well.

Other identified objectives are to promote the technical infrastructure construction for drainage, wastewater and solid waste treatment, implement technical infrastructure investment projects on environmental protection to meet the city’s development forecast, strengthen the post-inspection of environmental pollution points in urban areas, and deal with manufacturing establishments causing pollution in residential areas.

Under the plans, the emphasis will be placed on constructing a solar power plant at the Khanh Son Landfill; upgrading a number of existing facilities at this disposal site; carrying out environmental protection measures at the city’s Seafood Service Industrial Zone and the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf;  controling the quality of the already-treated effluent at centralised urban wastewater treatment stations and those located in industrial parks, Hi-tech Park, industrial clusters, traditional craft villages, large-scale manufacturing establishments; constructing urban drainage facilities; and strengthening the management of environmental pollution hotspots.
