Joining efforts for zero-plastic waste community

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, the Tai Nguyen Va Moi Truong (Natural Resources and Environment) Newspaper, and the Da Nang authorities together have recently launched the ‘Making the World Cleaner 2019’ campaign in the city.

Also, a talk show entitled ‘Joining Efforts for Zero-Plastic Waste Community - Responsibilities of Managers, Businesses and Media Agencies’ has taken place in the city.

In his remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh said since October 2018 residents and organisations across the city have actively become involved in numerous environmental protection activities across the city. Also, many businesses have taken the initiative to reduce plastic use and disposal of non-biodegradable plastic bags into the environment.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Vo Tuan Nhan suggested that businesses should promote the applications of advanced technologies into the production of environmentally friendly products to replace single-use products ones.

In addition, more than 2,000 people in total have got actively involved in cleaning beaches in Da Nang.

As part of activities to respond to the ‘Making the World Cleaner 2019’, the event aimed to collect trash around Tho Quang fishing wharf which is one of the city’s most polluted areas.

In his remarks at the launching event, Vice Chairman Chinh has emphasised Da Nang faced many problems in managing and treating domestic solid waste and deal with polluted hotspots.

He took the opportunity to appeal for agencies, organisations, businesses and individuals in the city to join forces with the municipal authorities to build a green and clean city with specific and practical actions.
