Since late last month, the Da Nang Department of Transport and the Da Nang Traffic Lights and Public Transport Management Centre (DATRAMAC) have jointly piloted the placement of life-sized traffic inspector dummies at bus stops across the city as an efficient way to raise public awareness of complying with traffic regulations.

Encouragingly, this new way with its purpose of preventing traffic violations has received high applause from the public.

According to Mr Dang Nam Son, the Director of DATRAMAC, recent times have seen an increasing number of private cars stopping illegally at some bus stops. As a results, given their lost parking space, buses face difficulties in picking up and dropping off their passengers here.

According to the latest figures released by DATRAMAC, between 16 and 22 August, a total of 6 vehicles illegally parked at bus stops in front of the city’s Eye Hospital on Phan Dang Luu, at 307 Le Duan, and in front of the Azura Da Nang Hotel on Tran Hung Dao.

In active response to this matter, DATRAMAC came up with the idea of installing cardboard cutouts of traffic inspectors in an attempt to educate road users, hereby leading to a decrease in such violations.

The first life-size dummy traffic inspector has already been placed at the bus stop in front of C17 Military Hospital on Nguyen Huu Tho Street for buses operating on the Tam Ky - Da Nang and Truong Sa - Tho Quang routes.

This eye-catching cardboard cutout made of plastic and polystyrene showcases the warning “Stopping or parking at a bus stop will be fined between 600,000 VND and 800,000 VND”.

Since the placement of this dummy traffic inspector, DATRAMAC received positive feedback from the public.

In the coming time, more dummy traffic inspectors will be placed at other bus stops, especially places where violations often occur.
