Widespread and oppressive heat roasts much of central region throughout the week
According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, a heatwave has begun to spread across the central region starting from today, 10 September, due to the influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region.
Highs soar between 35 and 37 degree Celsius on the average temperatures in the daytime, and even more than 35 degree Celsius in some parts of the mid-central region, especially from 11.00am until 4.00pm.
The current hot spell is likely to heat up the central regional localities in the next 3 days. The disaster risk level due to the hot weather has been set at 1.
Today, 10 September, the coastal localities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan are experiencing sunny weather in the daytime with the highest temperatures ranging from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, whilst the lowest humidity is reported as between 55 and 93%.
In addition, west-southwest wind levels 2/3, tornadoes, lightning, and thunderstorms will be possible in these localities in the late afternoon and evening due to the effects of extreme hot spells.
