This positive sign has been mainly attributed to a special concern of the city’s educational sector, especially the municipal authorities’ great care for mountainous pupils.
In the middle of the 2018-2019 school year, the municipal People's Council issued Resolution No 202/2018 / NQ-HDND dated 19 December 2018 on preferential policies for teachers and pupils at public educational institutions across the city, especially funding school lunches for day boarders in Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu communes.
In detail, as for primary school pupils, poor and ethnic minority pupils are supported 560,000 VND each monthly, pupils from families living above the municipal poverty thresholds or social policies families 400,000 VND each, and other pupils 300,000 VND each.
Mr Tran Minh Nghia, the Headmaster of the Hoa Phu Primary School, said his school has a total of 364 pupils in its 3 campuses in Phu Tho, Phu Tuc and Hoi Phuoc villages. 58 of them are ethnic minority pupils.
He spoke highly of the city government’s timely support for day boarders in the two communes in helping their parents ease their financial burden, and providing nutritious lunches for them.
Headmaster of the Hoa Bac Primary School Nguyen Tho remarked thanks to the city’s great care and active support, the quality of pupils’ lunches has been improved significantly.
Mr Tho added his school has 5 campuses in Pho Nam, Nam Yen, Phuoc My, Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages, but there is only a kitchen. Therefore, the school has been facing some difficulties in cooking and transporting meals to school pupils between the villages.
He, therefore, expressed his hope that 2 kitchens would be built at the school’s campuses in Nam Yen and Ta Lang villages in a bid to ensure the quality of the cooking for pupils there.
