During rush hours on Tuesday afternoon, many downtown streets became congested with heavy traffic for more than an hour.
Between 5:00pm - 6:00pm, drivers running on many roads like Le Loi, Quang Trung, Le Duan, Nguyen Chi Thanh and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai got stuck in traffic gridlock. Many vehicles travelled bumper to bumber in a line stretching over 1km.
Many cars have to queue, whilst motorcycles were forced to spill over the sidewalk to stay away from the traffic jam.

According to Mr Mai Ma, the Director of the municipal Water Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company, heavy rains lashed some parts of the city for a short time; so, flooding occurred at some certain locations, and rainwater then withdrew quickly.
“The company has operated flood control pumping stations, and asked residents living in the affected areas to open rainwater drainage grates”, said Ma.
Rain, accompanied with possible thunderstorms and gale-force winds, is still battering most parts of Da Nang from now until Saturday, 19 October, according to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The total amount of rain that pours down onto Da Nang is much likely to hover at between from 150to 300mm, and even over 300mm in some of its parts.
