Injured monkey rescued on Son Tra Peninsula

According to the Da Nang-based Son Tra-Ngu Hanh Son Forest Ranger Division, the treatment for an injured monkey, which was in distress in the vicinity of the Son Tra Peninsula-located Linh Ung Pagoda, is now progressing on track.

The distressed female monkey, whose scientific name is Macaca mulatta, weights 2 kg.

Earlier, photos posted on social networks on 2 October showed the  distressed monkey suffering from a severe injury in her left leg. According to local photographer An Binh, one of the witnesses who discovered and captured the image of the distressed monkey, her wound could have been caused by a snare trap.

In the afternoon of 7 October, the rangers successfully captured this monkey for treatment.
The monkey is being treated and cared for by veterinarians before being handed over to functional bodies for its release into the wild.

On 27 September, the Mobile Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team under the municipal Forest Protection Department released a red-faced monkey weighing 1.5 kg, scientifically named Macaca arctoides, back into sub-area No 12 of the Ba Na - Nui Chua special-use forest.
