In addition to developing new and unique tourism products, Da Nang has been paying special attention to training high-quality human resource for the hospitality sector, with a focus on building civilised attitude and behaviour towards visitors, in a bid to increase tourist arrivals in the city.

Mr Huynh Duc Trung, the Head of Travel Management Office of the municipal Department of Tourism, highlighted the significance of the building of civilised behaviour in tourism activities in securing the city’s firm stature as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination, thereby leaving a good impression on visitors from both home and aboard.

“Over recent years, Da Nang has focused on enhancing the friendly and polite attitude and behaviour of those involved in hospitality sector towards visitors”, he noted.

In 2016, the city issued a code of conduct applicable to the tourism industry. The code of conduct is applied to 3 main groups of people: individuals and organisations involved in the tourism sector, local residents, and domestic and foreign visitors to the city.

Accordingly, the visual guide features a total of 13 friendly, well-designed illustrations about the do’s and don’ts in the city.

Thousands of copies of the code in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, and South Korean languages are available for visitors at accommodation establishments, and tourist attractions across the city.

In May this year, the municipal Department of Tourism issued another code of conduct for tour guides in the city.

Most recently, a set of professional criteria for accommodation providers has been issued by the Department. It features criteria on serving guests and it is applied for employees working in accommodation establishments such as receptionists, security guards, and housekeeping staff.

The release of the codes and the set of criteria aims to raise awareness amongst tourism service providers and enhance their professionalism, thereby making both domestic and foreign visitors deeply impressed by the safe, friendly and civilised tourism environment in the city.

According to Ms Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the city's Department of Tourism, in the coming time, her agency would continue to develop and release a set of professional criteria for tourism products in Da Nang.
